Brava Island mourns the death of João Cândido Delgado “Dilapa”
On the island of Brava, Mr. João Cândido Delgado, better known as "Dilapa," passed away. He was a well-known, respected, and beloved figure throughout the Brava community.
Dilapa was cherished by all, not only for his professional career, but above all for his human qualities. A humble, dedicated man with a giant heart, he always stood out for the simple and respectful way he treated everyone, regardless of age or social standing. He was an easy-going person, always available to help, advise, and contribute to the well-being of his community.
Throughout his life, João Cândido Delgado played an important role in Brava society. He was a teacher, contributing to the education of several generations of young people on the island, leaving his mark through teaching, education, and the values he transmitted inside and outside the classroom. Later, he also served in the Brava Municipal Council, where he worked until his retirement, always with a sense of responsibility, commitment, and dedication to public service.
Throughout his professional and personal life, Dilapa built friendships, earned the respect of his colleagues, students, and the general public, becoming known as a serious, hardworking, and at the same time very humane and compassionate person.
His departure leaves a feeling of profound sadness and a great loss for the island of Brava, as not only a teacher and public servant is leaving, but also a man of values, a friend, and an exemplary citizen.
